Primedia Broadcasting Reviews All Planned Annual Events in Response to Government COVID-19 Directives
In response to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s declaration of the Covid-19 outbreak as a national disaster on Sunday evening, Primedia Broadcasting is reviewing all planned annual events across its brands, with most suspended until further notice. As a responsible business, with brands that deliver multiple lifestyle events, the company will be assessing each event based on timing, the success of the country-wide containment initiative and the most-current government restrictions.
Many of the major, much-anticipated South African sporting and lifestyle calendar events form part of Primedia Broadcasting’s portfolio and the company apologises for any inconvenience caused by the change in arrangements. However, Primedia fully supports the government directive to prohibit gatherings of more than 100 people, or more than 50 people where alcohol is served, as necessary, effective and responsible precautionary measures.
As such, the current information on planned events is as follows:
- 947’s Huawei Joburg Day in the Park - May 16, 2020 has been cancelled and event goers will be eligible to receive refunds
- Discovery 947 Rhythm Run - May 30, 2020 has been postponed. Refunds will be made available to participants wishing to claim
- 702 Walk the Talk - which takes places annually in July has been tentatively postponed whilst we await updates from government regarding the gatherings prohibition
- Discovery 947 Ride Joburg’s launch has been postponed pending direction from the government
Primedia encourages South Africans to prioritise the government’s preventative health measures which are regularly communicated through credible news sites and resources. The company believes that ensuring the information people consume about Covid-19 is factual and useful is an important part of staying healthy and avoiding unnecessary alarm.
We also encourage sporting and fitness enthusiasts to continue training, appropriately and inline with WHO recommendations. More details and FAQs are available on www.947.co.za, www.702.co.za & www.ewn.co.za . For more information on your refund requests please visit www.947.co.za
